Grits's Story
Meet Grits!

This handsome snow-white bully mix is just 8–9 months old and is a social bee who easily makes friends, humans and dogs alike. Grits was found wandering near a grocery store in rural South Carolina and was fortunate to be rescued by one of our volunteers. Since then, he's been living in foster care as part of a family, proving what a wonderful companion he is
.

While waiting for a foster, Grits boarded for a few weeks and quickly became a staff favorite. He loved his daily playgroups with other dogs and showed everyone what a happy, social pup he is. Now settling into foster care, Grits has been soaking up new experiences. His foster family has taken him on daily walks, to pet-friendly stores, and even to a local nature preserve, where he's met lots of people and children and enjoys new experiences. Everywhere he goes, he's curious, friendly, and eager to explore.

Grits has medium energy and an easygoing personality. He enjoys playing fetch, exploring new places, and gets the occasional burst of zoomies, but he's not a wild or overly energetic puppy. His foster mom describes him as a "go-with-the-flow" kind of dog who is happiest simply wandering the yard, hanging out with his people, or curling up for affection. If you're looking for a puppy who already has an "off switch," Grits is your guy.

Grits is currently fostered with two older dogs who aren't interested in playing, and he's been incredibly respectful of their space. While he enjoys playing with other dogs, he doesn't depend on them for entertainment and is much more interested in being with his people. Because of that, we think he'd do equally well as an only dog or with another friendly canine companion.

He's doing great with his training and is already potty trained and crate trained, sleeping quietly through the night without accidents. He willingly goes into his crate when his foster family is away and is learning basic commands like "sit," "wait," and "off." He's food-motivated, learns quickly, and genuinely enjoys working with his people. His favorite game is chasing tennis balls, and he's currently mastering "bring it" and "drop it."

We have seen Grits around young children, and he enjoys their attention. Like any young pup, he can get excited and occasionally jump up, but he's responding well to training and is eager to please. We think he's make a great family dog.

If you're looking for a young dog who's affectionate, adventurous, dog-friendly, and ready to continue learning alongside his forever family, Grits may be the perfect addition to your home. He has all the ingredients to become an incredible lifelong companion; all he needs now is a family to call his own. â¤ï ̧

Apply today!

BREED ESTIMATE: AmStaff Mix
GENDER: Male
APPROXIMATE WEIGHT: 38 lbs
APPROXIMATE AGE: ~ 8 months old
COAT TYPE: Short-Medium
ADOPTION FEE: $425
OTHER INFO: UTD on shots/neuterd/microchipped
LOCATION: Rock Hill, SC

FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application.

You can also help save dogs like this one by becoming a foster, providing a rescue dog with a temporary home and giving them the love and care they need until they are permanently adopted.
