Greta is a loving, loyal Macedonian Shepherd. She is shy and a little dubious of new things, but she is very loyal and loving and she appreciates good scratches, brushing, and gentle petting.<br/><br/>Greta had a bit of a rough start (she was found abandoned in a box as a tiny puppy in Macedonia) but fortunately no permanent harm was done. She has a gentle spirit and with some patience and gentle care, she will blossom into your new best friend and you will love her. <br/><br/>Greta is 3 years old and is a big girl, weighing 89 lb. She has the most beautiful brindle colored fur and markings that will catch the eye of anyone who sees her walking down the street with you. She has been spayed, she is in perfect health, and she is up to date on her vaccines and is heartworm negative. Greta rarely barks and she is good with other dogs and with people (including children, as well as they are gentle and treat her with respect). She is somewhat shy so it will take a little time for her to get to know you, but as she gains confidence her amazing character will emerge. She is quiet and mellow and responds whenever you want to play with her, but she is not pushy or needy. <br/><br/>Greta would enjoy a safely fenced yard (sorry, no invisible fencing) and she would do best if adopted by a family or individual who is home much of the time. <br/>She has a gentle spirit and with some patience and gentle care, she will blossom into your new best friend and you will love her. Whether you are a single person or a family with kids (who will treat her gently and with respect) she will thrive and give you lots of love. Her adoption fee has been COVERED by one of our rescue supporters, so there would be no cost involved for the right adopter.<br/><br/>If you feel you could provide Greta with the loving care she deserves, please write to us at: sylvialovesme@gmail.com and tell us about yourself, your daily schedule, if you have other pets and if you have a safely fenced yard, etc.<br/>After we hear from you, if we feel you would be a good match for Greta (and vice versa) we will send you an adoption application to fill out. (Once you’ve filled it out and returned it to us, we will review it and check the references you provide and then we can arrange for a meet-and-greet.)<br/><br/>NOTE: Greta is presently being fostered by a family in Streamwood (a Chicago suburb) so this is where a meet-and-greet would be held.
