Meet Grayson — a goofy, affectionate, incredibly loyal pittie mix who has overcome an unimaginable past and is finally ready for a forever family of his own.<br/><br/>Grayson is estimated to be about 3 years old and has been with our rescue for nearly a year. When he was rescued in September 2025, he had one of the most severe cases of mange and skin infection we had seen. His skin was hardened, cracked and painfully inflamed after going far too long without the care he desperately needed.<br/><br/>Today, Grayson is almost unrecognizable from that dog.<br/><br/>Grayson was recently featured on NBC 7 San Diego as part of their Clear the Shelters coverage, where he got a little time in the spotlight while waiting for the family who will finally call him their own.<br/><br/>Watch Grayson’s NBC 7 feature here:<br/>https://www.nbcsandiego.com/video/videos/after-transformation-with-tragic-to-magic-grayson-ready-for-adoption/4063090/<br/><br/>His skin and fur are still a work in progress, and his forever family will get to be part of the final chapter of his healing. He will need to remain on a skin-supportive diet along with regular baths and some simple ongoing skin care. It takes a little extra commitment, but Grayson himself certainly doesn't know he's "special needs." As far as he's concerned, life is pretty wonderful now.<br/><br/>And Grayson LOVES life.<br/><br/>He is a goofy, affectionate, incredibly loyal boy with that classic pittie personality — silly, cuddly, occasionally stubborn and completely devoted to his people. After everything he has been through, there is something especially touching about how deeply he appreciates being loved. Give him a comfortable place beside you and he is more than happy to settle in for cuddles.<br/><br/>Grayson is house trained, crate trained and walks beautifully on a leash. He does very well with other dogs and has lived successfully as part of a multi-dog household.<br/><br/>Grayson may still wear some of his past on the outside, but spend five minutes with him and you'll understand why we love him so much. He has survived neglect, learned to trust, discovered toys, comfort and companionship, and blossomed into the funniest, sweetest dog.<br/><br/>Now we want him to experience the one thing he has never had:<br/><br/>A family of his very own.<br/><br/>After almost a year of watching Grayson heal, we would love nothing more than to see him finish that journey in a home — surrounded by people who will look back someday and be able to say, "Look how far you've come."<br/><br/>If you're looking for a loyal best friend, a world-class cuddler and a goofy sidekick with an unforgettable story, Grayson just might be your guy.
