Gracie's Story

Where are my CHIHUAHUA lovers?

Some of you may remember “Shirley” now named Gracie, who was adopted from us back in 2022.

We got a message from her adopter’s family member this week letting us know her adopter is not doing well and that they need to rehome Gracie ASAP. Her owner’s health is declining rapidly and currently not able to reside at her home, leaving Gracie all alone.

Gracie would do best in a mellow home, with people that are familiar with and love the breed. She would do best where she is the only pet in the home.

Her adopter’s family says: “Gracie is a sweet lap dog and would be perfect for an elderly person.”

Here is what we’ve been told about Gracie:
-Estimated 10 years old
- Previously about 10lbs (not sure what her current weight is)
- She will go potty outside but is also pee pad trained.
- She does take 1 (Pet Armor) Benadryl per day to help keep her allergies at bay. Available at Petsmart.
- Loves to be petted and sit on her person’s lap
- Mellow
- Independent

She has not been in a home with other dogs and we would recommend her being the only dog in the home. Her current family believes that she would do okay around cats but that they are unsure because she has never been around them.

***Gracie has been diagnosed with Spondylosis of the spine, which is common in older dogs & Chi mixes, but can be uncomfortable/ painful to the dog. So, while she is happy to jump up on a couch or come up to you on her own, she has been known to nip if you have to pick her up.*

Some of these photos are photos from before she was adopted and a few of the images are with her current adopter and her family.

If you think Gracie could be the perfect addition to your family, you can fill out an adoption application here: https://form.jotform.com/203216945213146

*Please be patient with us. We are a 100% volunteer-based rescue. Once we receive an application, we will look over the app and check references and get back in touch with you.*
