Gracie's Story

Gracie is a sweet, spunky girl with a loving heart and a big personality—especially when food is involved! She is fully house-trained and knows to potty outside, quietly alerting her people with a soft bark when she needs to go. She is comfortable in a crate and settles well, sharing an extra-large crate peacefully with her bonded brother (which will be provided). Inside the home, Gracie is calm, relaxed, and respectful of furniture, though she can be a little mischievous if bored or left alone too long—keeping counters clear is a must, as she’s a skilled food sneak!

When people come home, Gracie is excited and happy to greet everyone, making the rounds with kisses before settling in. Within about 10 minutes, she’s content to relax nearby—on the floor at your feet, the end of the couch, or the foot of the bed. While her brother prefers constant physical contact, Gracie is perfectly happy just being close to her people.

She is generally a quiet dog, rarely barking indoors. She may alert to outside sounds like people or dogs passing by the fence and will bark softly to let you know she needs to go outside. Gracie lives comfortably with children over the age of 12 and is friendly and affectionate with new people, though she can get excited and may jump up when greeting.

Gracie enjoys toys, loves to chew (mostly sticking to her own toys), and is very food motivated. She knows sit, come, and shake, and is eager to learn more—especially if treats are involved! On walks, she pulls a little and reacts when seeing other dogs, but she is improving with practice and can be redirected. She has low to moderate energy: she enjoys walks and playtime but truly loves lounging and cuddling afterward.

She rides calmly in the car and is well-behaved for nail trims, which are handled by the vet or groomers. Gracie does get anxious at the vet and during thunderstorms; she does best when close to her people and may need anxiety medication if storms occur while her family is away.

Important Notes:

Gracie has food allergies and must be on a poultry-free, grain-free diet due to itchiness and skin irritation. She does well on Pure Balance Sensitive Skin Formula or similar higher-quality foods.

She has not been tested with cats.

She is protective of her person around other dogs and has not been acclimated to new dogs outside of her brother.

Bonded Pair Requirement:
Gracie is tightly bonded to her brother, and they must be adopted together. Their bond is strong, and separating them would not be in their best interest. They would do best as the only dogs in the home, as their dynamic with other dogs is uncertain. A trainer should be consulted if considering adding another pet.

Gracie is incredibly sweet, affectionate, playful, and loving—happy to give kisses, enjoy her toys, and relax near her people. She would thrive in either an active home that keeps her engaged or a laid-back home with a relaxed vibe, making her a great match even for a first-time dog owner who is ready for a bonded duo full of love.
