Friends Of the Tipton County Animal Shelter's Adoption Policy
1. View Adoptable Pets Browse available dogs and cats through our Facebook page or Petfinder listings. Each animal’s post includes their personality, needs, and any special requirements. 2. Submit an Adoption Application Interested adopters fill out a short application (available online). This helps us learn about your home, family, and lifestyle — so we can help you find the right match. 3. Application Review A FOTCAS board member reviews your application, contacts references or landlords if needed, and may schedule a quick phone interview to discuss the pet you’re interested in. 4. Meet & Greet Once approved, we’ll schedule a meet-and-greet. This can happen at the Tipton County Animal Shelter, a foster home, or an adoption event. All household members (including dogs, if adopting another dog) should attend to ensure compatibility. 5. Adoption Approval If it’s a good fit, your adoption will be finalized! You’ll sign the adoption agreement, pay the adoption fee (which covers vaccinations, spay/neuter, and microchipping), and take home your new family member. 6. Welcome Home!
