GRACE 425's Story
GRACE IS WAITING FOR SOMEONE SPECIAL

Meet Grace, a beautiful 2-year-old Goldendoodle mix, about 50 pounds, with the most gorgeous curly red coat.

Grace is a quiet, sensitive girl who is still figuring out this whole "people are safe" thing.

She's made progress since coming into foster care. She allows us to pet her, she's learning the routine of a home, and we're beginning to figure out what makes her feel most comfortable.

One of her favorite discoveries has been my elderly father's bed.

She'll climb up, curl into the blankets, and sleep beside him. There isn't a lot of interaction between them — and that's okay. He's quiet. The room is calm. Nobody is asking anything from her.

For Grace, that's enough to let her relax.

And that's really what we're searching for.

Not someone who expects Grace to become a different dog overnight.

Someone who can give her an entire HOME that feels as safe as that bed does.

Grace is still frightened by quick or unpredictable movements, and she's going to need time to learn her new people and surroundings. We don't know how quickly her confidence will grow.

But she's only two.

She has so much life ahead of her.

GRACE NEEDS:

— Another dog to help her feel secure and build confidence
— A securely fenced yard
— No young children
— A quieter, predictable home
— Someone with patience and a very gentle heart

Grace won't be the dog who meets you and immediately convinces you to adopt her.

She may be the one standing back while another dog gets your attention.

She may not know how to show you that she needs you.

SO THIS TIME, GRACE NEEDS SOMEONE TO CHOOSE HER FIRST.

Someone who can look past what fear has taught her to be and see the young dog who still has so much life ahead of her.

She's only two.

She has years and years left to learn about couches and treats and sunny afternoons in the yard. About another dog becoming her best friend. About familiar footsteps coming through the door. About having a favorite spot in a home that belongs to her.

About being safe enough that someday, being afraid isn't the first thing on her mind.

Grace doesn't need someone to save her.

She needs someone willing to give her the time to discover who she is when she finally feels safe.

SOMEWHERE OUT THERE IS GRACE'S PERSON.

Maybe they won't be looking for a dog like Grace.

Maybe they'll simply read this, see those beautiful eyes, and feel something they can't quite explain.

If that's you...

Maybe Grace has been waiting for you, too.

If you would like to be considered as a potential adopter for one of our great dogs, please go to our website- (SEE PINNED POST) and submit an application. Our application process includes landlord approval and vet checks. Please make sure all of your information is current and accurate, including a valid email address and phone numbers. Inaccuracies and/or incomplete data will delay and/or cancel your application. We strive to process all applications in a timely manner, but with the high volume of applications we are receiving, it is taking anywhere from 1-3 weeks. You may be contacted via email if there are concerns or questions. Once all of your information is reviewed and if your application is approved, you will be notified via email. Submitting an application and receiving an approval does not guarantee you will be adopting the dog you applied for. Once you move to the meet and greet process, you will be contacted by the foster family to further discuss the dog, and answer questions you may have, and if applicable, a meet and greet will be set up at our adoption center. Meet and greets are only set up with approved applicants, and we require all members in the household to be present, as well as any current dogs in the home. Meet and greets take place at our adoption center located in New Berlin. If you are proceeding with adopting a Lucky Mutt, we will require the dog to have a Martingale collar at the time of adoption, to ensure the dogs safety during the transition to a new home.

Current Adoption Fees Are:
$425+tax for puppies to 3 years old
$375+tax for ages 4-7
$275+tax for ages 8 and up
Bonded pairs vary

The adoption fee covers spay/neuter, up to date age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, general deworming, heartworm test, (if over 6 months) and a certified veterinary inspection. Please be aware, listed dog breeds are based on information provided and cannot be guaranteed. Submitting an application for a particular dog does not guarantee that you will be the applicant chosen, we receive several applications for each dog. Our adopters are picked based on the needs of the dog, and the home we feel with best fit based on your responses to our application, vet information and landlord requirements. Approved applicants not chosen for the dog you applied for, will be in active status for a period of six months. We encourage you to watch Petfinder, Facebook and our website for upcoming dogs. Should you see a dog that interests you, please send us a Facebook message or an email with your approval number. Please be patient with us, as Lucky Mutts Rescue is run strictly by volunteers and many of us work full time jobs, have families and also foster dogs. Thank you for considering Lucky Mutts Rescue for your next furry family member!
