Golden Hour's Story

Age: 8.5 years
Size: 76 lbs
Good with: Kids and dogs.

Golden Hour quietly stole our hearts when we met her at the Manhattan ACC. She had been living in a pop up crate for 3 weeks because all the kennels are full. We were told that the “good” dogs usually get moved into crates because they will tolerate it.

When we tried to take her out for a walk, she was reluctant to leave her crate. She looked completely defeated—her head hung low, eyes downcast—but eventually rested her head on a volunteer’s lap for pets.

And who could blame her? It was her second stint at the ACC. In 2021, she was surrendered with 3 other dogs and eventually adopted. But just 5 days before Christmas last year (2025), she was found stray and brought back to the shelter. When contacted, her owners refused to take her back.

Golden’s gentle soul shines through all the trauma she has endured. Now safe in our foster home, she has turned into a sweet house hippo with glitter for brains (her foster mom’s words). She’s kind and friendly with people and dogs, super affectionate and just wants to lay around—basically the perfect dog for any home.

Golden Hour is fostered in Croton-on-Hudson, NY, and is available for local or out-of-state adoption as long as the adopter can travel to meet her. We can also bring her to NYC for a meet and greet with approved adopters. To get the adoption process started, please send us an application at https://bit.ly/rosr-adopt-foster.
