Glory's Story

Estimated Age: 3-5 years
Breed Guess: Hound mix
Weight: 40lbs
Adoption fee: $350

Glory is the kind of dog who makes you wonder how she ended up in a shelter in the first place. Estimated to be between 3–5 years old, this sweet girl is calm, well-mannered, and incredibly easy to have around. She is dog-friendly, cat-friendly, and kid-friendly, making her a wonderful fit for a variety of families.

Glory walks beautifully on a leash and already knows a few tricks, including sit and down. With a few commands under her belt and the way she carries herself, it’s easy to believe Glory was once someone’s beloved house dog. We suspect she is likely potty trained as well!

And if you picture a hound as loud, noisy, and always ready to announce her presence, think again! Glory is exceptionally quiet. In fact, no one has heard a peep from her. She’s perfectly content to quietly hang out with her people, go for a nice walk, and enjoy the simple things in life.

Her calm demeanor, leash skills, willingness to learn, and friendly personality make her an especially great candidate for first-time dog owners. Glory doesn’t need an experienced dog person to appreciate her — she just needs someone who will give her the love, stability, and forever home she deserves.

Unfortunately, Glory’s life right now is very different from the life she deserves.

Glory currently resides in a rural shelter in Kentucky, where she is one of nearly 300 dogs waiting for their chance at a better life. With just one shelter worker for roughly every 50 dogs, the shelter is severely overcrowded. Glory spends 24 hours a day in her kennel, with very limited opportunities to get out, interact, and simply be a dog.

For a dog who is so calm, quiet, and clearly accustomed to being around people, it’s heartbreaking to think she is spending her days waiting behind a kennel door.

Glory has so much to offer. She already knows basic commands, walks well on a leash, gets along with dogs, cats, and kids, and seems like she may have once been someone's house dog. Now, she just needs someone to give her the chance to show what an amazing companion she can be.

Help Glory Get Out of the Shelter

Glory is looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home that can give her the freedom, love, attention, and companionship she has been missing.

Cleo’s Legacy is willing to take Glory into their rescue program if an approved foster or foster-to-adopt home steps forward.** That means her foster family would have the support of the rescue, including medical care, foster supplies, transportation, and more.

Glory has waited long enough. She deserves to spend her days being someone's beloved companion instead of waiting in a kennel.

If you’ve been looking for a sweet, quiet, easygoing dog — especially if you’re a first-time dog owner — Glory may be exactly who you’ve been waiting for.

If you’re interested in fostering or fostering to adopt Glory, fill out the application below!

https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/foster/NKY/Dog

Any questions about Glory or the foster/foster to adopt program through Cleo’s Legacy, please feel free to reach out at the following email!

emma@cleoslegacy.org
