Gizmo's Story

Barks and Meows Rescue would like to introduce you to 3 year old Gizmo. She is an 8.5lb Shih Tzu with the nicest temperament. She goes by Gizzy and was surrendered to a wonderful Samaratan who looked after her until she coud find a Rescue to find her the best home ever.

Gizzy is very well socialized with people, children, dogs and cats. She constantly wags her tail and enjoys being picked up. She also doesn't need to be carried around, she goes with the flow and is happy to follow her family whatever room they might be in. She is good in the car and crated there for safety. She doesn't require a crate in the house though her previous home found it was a safe spot for her as long as the door was left open. She is housebroken but also will use newspapers if going out is not an option.

She is not used to being on a leash so definitely recommend a body harness so she cannot slip her collar. We are sure she will love it once she gets used to it. The groomer says she was excellent and didn't make a sound. She eats twice daily, a mixture of dry and canned. She loves having the freedom.of exploring in her fenced backyard. She has to be coaxed in, she loves the outdoors so much. We are not sure how much she likes the winter months.

We believe that she will suffer from separation anxiety if left alone or without another dog in the home. She sleeps with her foster family on their bed and is excellent.

This is one happy little gal and she was raised very well from a socialization perspective. She is not nippy at all. She's as cute as a button in real life.

Gizzy is spayed, up to date with vaccines, tested negative for heartworm and on flea and heartworm prevention.

A fully fenced yard and a Veterinarian history of compliance is mandatory in order to apply for Gizzy.

If you wish to add Gizzy to your family, please visit barksandmeows.ca for an online application.
