But he is still one of the sweetest, most loving dogs you’ll ever meet — and he’s waiting for the person who sees past the challenges and chooses him because he’s worth it.<br/><br/>Gizmo is 1 year and 4 months old, neutered, microchipped, and UTD on vaccines and heartworm preventative. He was born with spinal dysraphism, a congenital spinal canal defect that gives him his signature “bunny hop” gait. He also has mild left hip dysplasia. Some days he walks and runs with that funny hop; other days he may drag his hindquarters. Because of his mobility issues, he can develop sores that need monitoring and care.<br/><br/>And yet... Gizmo is still full of joy.<br/><br/>He loves snuggle time, loves car rides, and loves dogs of all sizes. He’ll probably adjust to cats with time. He’s house trained, though he may have a poop accident if he gets overly excited. He’s not the best fit for children — he needs a calm home, gentle handling, and someone who understands that if he’s hurting, he’ll let you know he needs space.<br/><br/>His foster dad says it best:<br/><br/>“If you are the type of person who looks after the unlucky ones, please get to know Gizmo.”<br/><br/>Gizmo is handsome, affectionate, goofy, and deeply loyal.
