Gingersnap's Story

Meet Gingersnap!

Gingersnap is a petite 3-year-old, 8 lb Maltese mix with a gentle soul and a heart full of quiet love. She was surrendered to an overcrowded shelter along with her puppies, and the loud, busy environment left her understandably overwhelmed and frightened. Thankfully, she was transferred to our rescue and placed into a calm foster home where she could care for her babies and begin to decompress.

Gingersnap is a sweet but timid girl who can be a little hesitant when first meeting new people. With patience and kindness, her affectionate side begins to shine. She enjoys being close to her people, loves sitting in laps, and will seek out attention from those she has bonded with.

She is not confident on a leash, so a home with a secure, physical fenced yard is necessary. Gingersnap came from a home with many other dogs and has done well in their presence. She has also met a cat without concern. Because of her sensitive nature, she would do best in a quieter household with adults or older, dog-savvy children who understand how to respect her boundaries.

Gingersnap is crate trained and has demonstrated a good understanding of house manners. She hasn't shown much interest in toys and is not especially food motivated, preferring comfort and companionship over playtime or treats. When frightened, she may try to run and hide, so her forever family will need to provide gentle reassurance, consistency, and time to help her build confidence.

She will require regular grooming to keep her coat healthy and comfortable. Most of all, Gingersnap is looking for a family who will offer her the love, patience, and security she has been longing for—a place where she can finally feel safe and cherished.

If you're searching for a quiet, loyal lap companion who will blossom with love and understanding, Gingersnap may be the perfect match for your home.

Gingersnap is:
Current on Bordetella, Distemper, and Rabies
Dewormed
Heartworm Tested: Negative
Receiving Heartworm and Flea Prevention
Microchipped
Spayed

ADOPTION FEE: $375

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. We make every effort to evaluate each animal's temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different.

While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program.

FUREVER TAILS IS A NON-PROFIT, NO-KILL, FOSTER HOME BASED ANIMAL RESCUE BASED OUT OF OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, MI. OUR FOSTER ANIMALS ARE LIVING IN FOSTER HOMES AND TREATED LIKE FAMILY UNTIL THEY FIND THEIR OWN FUREVER FAMILIES. OUR ADOPTION PROECESS REQUIRES AN APPLICATION TO BE COMPLETED AND APPROVED BEFORE A MEET-N-GREET WITH THE ANIMAL CAN TAKE PLACE. ADOPTION FEES ARE NECESSARY TO HELP US COVER VETTING COSTS FOR OUR RESCUED ANIMALS.
