Ginger's Story

Meet Ginger — looking for a soft place to land

Ginger’s story is a heartbreaking one. Right before Christmas, her owner was hospitalized and Ginger was boarded at his veterinary clinic. She later went into foster care when it became clear his recovery would take time. Sadly, he recently passed away, and his family is unable to take her in. We loved her owner dearly and promised he wouldn’t have to worry about her — so now we are searching for the loving home Ginger deserves.

Ginger is a very sweet girl 5 yr old who bonds deeply with her people. She can be shy when first meeting you, but she warms up quickly and becomes incredibly affectionate. Once she trusts you, she is a devoted little shadow and a champion snuggler — she even sleeps under the covers with you. She especially seems to adore men.

She enjoys:
• Car rides
• Walks
• Snuggling on the couch or in bed
• Dinner time (she will definitely remind you!)

Ginger is mostly housetrained with very few accidents, and those were due to not getting her out quickly enough. She is smart and a little head-strong, but treats motivate her very well.

Important things to know about Ginger:
• She would do best in a home without young children. When frightened or grabbed suddenly (for example nail trims), she may nip out of fear.
• She gets along with other dogs after a short adjustment period (it took about 2 days in her foster home and then she was happily playing).
• She can be food-protective with other animals, but never with people — simply feed separately.
• A home without cats would be ideal. She can live with calm cats, but she may chase and occasionally nip, especially if they run.
• She has some storm/fireworks anxiety, but medication and a ThunderShirt help significantly.

Ginger has been through a lot of change and loss in a very short time. What she really needs now is stability, patience, and someone who will make her feel safe again. In return, you’ll get a loyal, loving companion who just wants to belong to someone.

If you’re looking for a devoted snuggle buddy and have a quieter home where she can relax and feel secure, Ginger may be the perfect match.

If interested in adopting Ginger please go to our website at danteshope.com to complete the online application.

Please help us find this sweet girl the forever home her owner would have wanted for her.
