Ginger's Story

Ginger is a nine year old, seven pound handicapped Pomeranian. She came into rescue when her owner was no longer able to take care of her. Ginger has a "wonky walk." She's had an FHO on her back hip/leg, and the bones didn't heal correctly. There's nothing that can be done to help her walk normally, and amputation or wheels aren't an option. She scoots along outside or on carpeting. She can't get around on hardwood floors or tile. She gets around on runners, but that is limiting. She can't negotiate stairs.

Ginger is potty-trained, if she is taken outside frequently. She will sometimes use potty pads inside. At between 6:30 and 7:00 AM, she cries and barks to go outside even though she has access to a puppy pad. She is the perfect size to carry around, and she loves it and considers it her due. She will bark until she gets attention or if left alone. She could never live in an apartment. Ginger is vocal! She barks incessantly if she sees a cat, even a friendly cat that she knows well.

Ginger is fragile, so she can't live with children or in an active household. She can't quickly move out of the way of feet, and it scares her. She might be best as an only pet where she gets all the love and attention. She enjoys being outside as long as she can see her person. She is up-to-date on shots and has received injections to protect her for a year from fleas/ticks and heartworm. Her adoption fee is $135.
