Meet Ginger! If you're thinking this pretty russet-colored gal looks familiar it's because she's been our guest before. Ginger was adopted as a puppy in August 2016 but was returned in early April 2017 due to the failing health of her owner. Ginger was quickly readopted but did NOT do well with the adopter's toddler-aged grandchild the first time she met him. Ginger had never been to that home and was nervous but her behavior means that she would not be suitable for a household where she would be exposed to children. Ginger was born 12/22/15, weighs just a tad over 30-lbs and, according to both previous adopters, is house-trained (she goes to the door and whines when she needs to go outside). Ginger was pretty 'mouthy' when she was here as a puppy but she seems to have outgrown that. We've been impressed by what a well-mannered dog she has become and, aside from not being good around children, Ginger is a nice dog. Because both of her adopters were retired, Ginger is used to having company most of her waking hours which means it could take her some time to adapt if she will be left alone for long stretches of time. She seems content and is well-mannered here in her kennel, though. This pretty gal is very intelligent, wants to please you, and is a great leash-walker. If you understand that owning a dog is a commitment (thru the good and the bad), just stop by the shelter soon and ask to meet Ginger. She sure would like to be someone's cherished canine companion again soon!
