Ginger's Story

Ginger is a 4 years old female Long Coat Chihuahua/Mix who weighs 10 pounds.

Meet Ginger, a sweet and sensitive chihuahua who is learning that the world can be a safe and loving place. She does great with other dogs and cats. Ginger takes time to trust people, but if you let her move at her own pace, she warms up quickly. Once she feels comfortable, she loves to snuggle and happily soaks up belly rubs and ear rubs. She truly enjoys gentle affection and likes being brushed, making quiet bonding moments especially meaningful for her. She is learning how to play with toys and other dogs and is discovering how fun it can be!

Ginger loves treats and is very food-motivated, so much so that she may try to sneak your snacks if given the chance! She can be a little possessive over food and toys, so she will need a home that can gently manage and guide her in those moments. Ginger is doing great with potty training. She does well in her crate once she's in it. She even likes to hide her toys in her crate, which she sees as a safe space. She's also working on getting into the car; once she's inside, she rides nicely.

Ginger has some endearing quirks, like stealing shoes and socks and carrying them to her bed for safekeeping. Children are currently unknown for Ginger, as she needs a lot of reassurance and can be unsure around unpredictable movements. For this reason, a calmer home may be the best fit. Ginger is looking for a patient, loving adopter who will give her the time and understanding she needs to fully blossom. With kindness and consistency, she will reward you with loyalty, affection, and plenty of heart-melting moments.

Ready for your next best friend?
