Gina's Story

Gina is a sweet and high energy girl looking for an active and engaged home ready for a spunky dog like her! Gina is an Underdog who has been shining in our rehabilitative program, and does well when she has structure to keep her both mentally and physically occupied!

Gina was found abandoned in a parking lot, extremely skinny, anxious, and with signs of having recently given birth. A good Samaritan found her wandering and tried to return her to the suspected owners, but they refused to answer the door. Unfortunately, no one came forward for her so Animal Haven took her into our care.

We're hoping to give Gina a fresh start after what was likely a stressful life. When she first arrived and was still settling in, she would frequently spin in circles - a behavior that often develops from stress, especially in dogs that grew up in confinement. But once she settled into a routine, her spinning thankfully subsided, though it still happens when she's super excited or hyped up about something. It'll likely be a quirk that will remain with her, but thankfully we've ruled out any neurological concerns.

While Gina will do best with an experienced adopter, we can say with certainty that she is a total sweetheart! She's snuggly, playful, and responsive to treats and toys. She does not get along with other dogs and would likely do best in a home with no other animals. Future adopters should be prepared to work with Gina to help her settle into a new routine to set her up for success in a home. Animal Haven will of course provide ongoing support to help Gina transition and settle into her new home and life. Reach out to our team if you're interested in meeting Gina and learning more about this darling dog!
