GILLIGAN NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!

Name: Gilligan Best Guess for Breed: Terrier and lab mix

Best Guess for Age: 2 years as of November 2025 SEX: Male

Approximate Weight: 47 lbs

Gets Along With: Other dogs! Gilligan is not recommended for a home with cats. We haven't seen him with kids but are happy to discuss integration techniques with any interested adopters.

Currently Living at: DC area foster home

Check out this video of Gilligan: https://youtu.be/3oxjudGyUos.

Gilligan is Looking For: This sweetie has been lucky once already! He and his buddy Gingersnap were stray and found by the right person - someone who took them in and committed to getting them into their own homes. They both were heartworm positive, and we at Lucky Dog took care of their treatment. He's done with treatment and is now eager to have his own humans for long sniffy walks and all the adventures they can dream up. He'd love to make pup and people pals along the way. And quality kibble, cushy dog bed, chew dog toys - yes, please, to all those. But above all he wants to be safe and loved, to know where he belongs - and upon whom to bestow all those happy tail wags, to whom to pledge loyal companionship. Are you going to be the lucky recipient - and Gilligan's second lucky break too? What My DC Area Foster Says About Me: I call Gilligan the Gentle Giant - he is so gentle and loving! He is friendly and playful with my dogs. He plays fetch, seems to never get tired of it. He LOVES his human and is SO HAPPY to see me! There have been no accidents in my house. He walks great on a leash though does get excited when we see another dog, and I am working with him on not pulling on the leash. Generally, he settles down after the first long sniff...
He is crate-trained. I say 'kennel' and he goes right in, and he sleeps through the night! He has no interest in chewing on my shoes and other things. He's a bit shy when meeting new people but when he warms up to you he'll be your new best friend!

Special adoption considerations: Gilligan is a truly Lucky Dog! He tested positive for Heartworm disease but has already been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the adoption counseling process.

Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.

Thank you for contacting Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and helping to save a life!
