Gilbert's Story

Gilbert is a hulking 98 pound boy. We think he may be a Mastiff or Cane Corso mix, but are fairly certain whatever he is was mixed with a horse. Despite his large size, Gilbert is a cuddly and gentle giant. You can often find him at the shelter laying down in his kennel and gazing up hopefully at you when you walk by. Central New York SPCA's Adoption Policy
So you’re ready to add a family member to your home! Well you’re at the right place! To begin, you can view our animals available for adoption online, but there’s nothing like the real thing. We welcome you to come to our shelter and spend some time getting to know our animals in person. To start off, please review the adoption guidelines below to speed up the adoption process: 1. Applicants must be at least 21 years old. 2. All adoption applications must be filled out completely. 3. An adoption application must be completed before any animal can be taken out for a visit. No animal will be taken out for a visit prior to this time. 4. You will need picture ID, with name and current address, to photo copy onto your application. Any animal on a HOLD cannot be taken out for a visit until its holding time is up and it is available for adoption. All dogs MUST be licensed with your Town prior to leaving the CNYSPCA, ask adoption counselor for further details.
