Gigi's Story

Gigi is an adorable mix of Aussie Cattle Dog, German Shepherd and maybe Blue Tick Hound or Beagle. She shows a lot of herding dog traits. She even sits on her tail and has the legendary “ACD lean” where she sits on one hip. She’s 3 ½ years old, medium sized at 55lb with short soft fur, big perky ears and eyes that draw you in. She is sensitive, with a calm and sweet demeanor, broken up by excited zoomies and a thirst to run like a bullet at the dog park.

After 22 months in a shelter, we are so glad that we could take Gigi into our care. Although she hasn’t been out of the shelter long and she is quickly learning the world of being a house dog. She doesn’t always know what’s expected of her, but she’s super smart and wants to learn. She’ll benefit from consistent training and responds well to gentle techniques, but her previous life experience doesn’t lend itself to loud or dominant methods. She cowers at times or may shy away from unexpected movements, or at a raised voice.

Gigi enjoys petting and affection on her terms and quickly becomes a devoted Velcro dog. She is a bit shy of men but is adjusting quickly. While she needs to be in a no cat home, she loves other dogs and would really thrive in a home with dog siblings who would help show her the ropes. She’d also like having company when her people were away or busy. Her favorite thing to do is chase dogs who are chasing a ball… not to fetch, just for the joy of running with them. She loves long walks and is quickly becoming a good leash walker. Please contact Eva if you would like to adopt Gigi.

Contact Eva at 916-803-4935 or norcalbeagles@gmail.com
