Gideon's Story

Fostered In: Chehalis, WA
Adoption Fee: $400
Vaccines: DAPP & Bordetella
Neutered, Microchipped, Dewormed,

Meet Gideon - a survivor with a tender heart who is still learning what it means to truly feel safe. At approximately 4 months old, Gideon isn't your typical carefree puppy. He will need an adopter who understands that his start in life was anything but easy and is willing to meet him where he is, building a future together with patience, consistency, and love. We promise you - the time and energy you invest in earning this boy's trust will be repaid tenfold. Once Gideon bonds with you, the love, loyalty, and entertainment he brings are absolutely priceless.

Gideon came into rescue after being abandoned with his siblings. We have no idea how long they were out there alone in the cold without food or water, but Gideon was one of the strong ones. While his siblings did not survive, he did. Even once he was safe in foster care, his journey was not easy. He arrived dehydrated, hungry, covered in fleas, and full of worms. Because he came in with ringworm (a fungal infection), he had to quarantine away from other animals during his first weeks in safety - a lonely and confusing experience for such a young puppy.

Because of this traumatic past, Gideon is not as well socialized as most 4-month-old puppies. New people and new environments can be overwhelming, and he needs time to adjust. However, once he feels comfortable, his playful, goofy puppy personality shines through. He is still learning that not all people are scary, and while he loves snuggling up next to his foster parents for pets and reassurance, he does not enjoy being picked up or carried.

Gideon absolutely loves playing with other dogs and puppies, though he is still working on understanding appropriate social cues. For that reason, an understanding and patient canine companion would be ideal. In fact, we truly believe Gideon would thrive in a home with another confident dog. Snuggling up with the resident dog in his foster home is where he finds the most comfort - that is when he feels truly safe.

Despite everything he has endured, Gideon is a resilient little soul who is just beginning to learn how to be a puppy instead of worrying about survival. He is crate trained, working hard on his potty training, and making progress every day. Gideon has experienced more heartbreak in his short life than any puppy ever should, but he is living proof of strength and hope. With the right family - one willing to give him time, understanding, and unconditional love - he will grow into an incredibly devoted and special companion.

If you believe you could be the patient, loving home Gideon deserves, please submit an application here:
https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/CCLC/Dog
