Gia's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.
Please review our Adoption Process before filling out an application. If you would like to try a Foster to Adopt trial, please fill out an Adoption Application.

If you are only interested in temporarily Fostering one of our rescues, please fill out a Foster Application.

Meet Gia!

Gia is a total baja mutt, we do not know her breed but she looks like a shepherd although she is fairly pettite and almost full grown. She is almost 40lbs and doubt she would reach 45 pounds because of her agile and thin frame but is really a perfect medium breed. Gia has been in San Diego since early September and is currently fostered at casa de ARWOB along with other foster dogs and cats.

If you are looking for a very dog friendly dog this girl is a great match. She does great with all breeds and sizes. She LOVES to run at the dog parks and play with friends. She is starting to get the hang of fetch but loves to play with all toys especially any benabones or chewable nyla bones. She is a teen who will enter adult hood soon which means she is just an overgrown puppy at heart! She is crate trained and we cant say she is house trained but if she has access to the yard she is really good and she rarely has an accident inside especially if you have her go outside multiple times to go potty. She has not exhibited any leash reactivity and loves car rides. She can definitely jump baby gates under 4 feet and its hillarious to see her jump OVER her dog friends at the dog park when everyone is running in a pack and being in total chaos, she does it to run away or not crash into another dog which is a very smart move ha ha

Gia does live around foster cats and she is not horrible around them but can be a little too much ei in their face which means if the home has cats, it would have to be a cat who is very dog savvy and not intimidated by her moves and fast approachs. Her bestie is of course her brother Goliath since they are fostered together and have a greaty play dynamic BUT she is also good friends with Truffles, frida, Roxy. She is not a big barker but will warn you of weird things going around the house. She is a littel indiferent of people when she first meets them BUT super loving with people she knows. She is a great dog and of course beautiful. Again, because of her age and energy she wil need an adopter who takes dog training seriously so they can instill some basic dog obedience like no pulling on leash, wait, place, etc.

Gia is the type of dog who will play at the dog park but is always keeping an eye on you and will follow your lead around. She is absolutely a loyal dog to her human and a good soul on this girl.

READY for adoption and currently also searching for a foster. ARWOB is not holding adoption events at this time and if serious and interested in possibly adopting this rescue dog we request adoption applications are submitted on our home page at ARWOB.org once received we will text or email to schedule a call in the hopes we can move fwd to schedule a meet and greet. We do NOT place holds on rescues, only submit applications if ready to adopt. Typically adoptions are the same day of scheduled meet and greets assuming it goes well and there is a connection between both parties. The adoption process can be quick as soon as the next day or two OR up to a week depending on the rescue inquiring and applicant getting everything in order like landlord approval, etc.
If you would like to meet one of our animals, PLEASE fill out an adoption application.
Dog Adoption Application
Cat Adoption Application

PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU ARE IN THE MILITARY please fill out a short questionnaire in addition to the adoption application.
Military Questionnaire

Animal Rescuers Without Borders,Inc.'s Adoption Policy
The A.R.W.O.B. group prides itself on carefully placing animals into responsible and loving homes. We care about the present and future lives of the many unwanted dogs and cats and strive to improve them so they can come to know stability, love and safety. For more information, please visit our website at www.arwob.org. Our adoption procedure is as follows: 1) Adoption Application filed by applicant (visit the applications page to fill one out!). We typically adopt dogs and cats to individuals or families located in San Diego County, Orange County and Los Angeles areas. However, we may consider potential adopters within California, Arizona, and Nevada (within a reasonable driving distance) under certain circumstances. We require that the application be approved ahead of time and a home check must be done via FaceTime Skype (we do not accept videos for this purpose). We would also require the potential adopter to come to San Diego to meet the animal in person and we recommend bringing any current pet(s) to see if they will get along. If the potential adopter opts out of the meet-n-greet with their existing animal(s) and if the new pet does not get along with their existing pets, we would require the adopter to drive back to San Diego to return the animal -- we cannot provide transportation. Our adoptions are time sensitive and our policy is that we do not place holds on any of our rescues. PLEASE NOTE: We have implemented a new policy for those who are currently serving in the military. IF YOU ARE IN THE MILITARY please fill out a short questionnaire in addition to the adoption application. 2) A play date between the applicant and rescue (dog or cat). An applicant MUST have an APPROVED online adoption application filed BEFORE scheduling a playdate at the animal's foster home. The playdate will ensure that the potential adopter and the dog/ cat they are interested in is the right match. If the dog/cat does not possess the qualities and behavioral traits the applicant is looking for, we can continue the adoption process by meeting another rescued dog or cat. You can also meet the animal you are interested in at scheduled adoption events. Approved applicants have priority to meet an animal over others. Please read the events page for more information about meeting an animal at an event and possibly taking them home afterward. 3) Home checks to ensure the safety of our rescues (If applicable). An ARWOB volunteer will contact you upon approval of your application (and the playdate appointment) to schedule a visit to your home. Here we will take a look at where the cat/dog will be living. Your home and yard must be safe and secure. 4) Adoption Contract and ID from applicant If everything checks out during the homecheck and we believe our rescued dog/ cat will live happily there, we will go ahead and sign the adoption contract to makes the adoption official. 5) Adoption fee Fees are different for both dogs and cats and are based on age and, sometimes, on the breed. Please visit the adoption fees page for a break down of all. 6) Denial of adoption applications We screen all of our adoption applications thoroughly in order to find the perfect home for our rescues. There may be times when we feel the adopter is not a good fit based on the answer to questions on their application. Please know that we vet each applicant with the animal's best interest in mind. In the event that your application is denied, you will receive an email letting you know of our decision. However, we will not be able to answer detailed questions regarding the denial.
