Meet Ghost

It was nearly the "eleventh hour" when we got word that Ghost needed rescuing, and he needed it badly, as he was on the euthanasia list at the overcrowded shelter in AL. PHEW!

Ghost has some of the best personality features that will make you swoon over him. Estimated to be about 2 years old, this boy is quite the social butterfly and he has yet to meet anyone he does not immediately love. When it comes to his four-legged friends, Ghost is the most pawsome fellow. And he will transform into a big cuddly teddy bear when it is time for snuggles or naps. We can only imagine how even more popular he will be when the temperature drops further - seriously, how can one resist such a cuddly ball of fluff to keep you warm?! Ghost is at the age where he is like a sponge, soaking up EVERYTHING that you teach him - not only is he smart, but he also has a strong desire to please. If you can spare a few minutes every day, we are pawsitive that Ghost will accumulate a number of cute tricks for you to show off this holiday season.

One of Ghost's favorite things to do is fetch a ball, but don't expect him to bring it back to you. He is one of those dogs that we call a "golden keeper mix," rather than a retriever mix! This lovely boy will thrive in an active home where he is loved and cherished as an essential part of the family - bonus points if he can have his very own furever sibling to play with.

Ghost has a gentle mouth and an age-appropriate energy level. He walks pretty well on the leash and has a beautiful gait - you can see him prancing in this video. While our volunteers in AL are working with this handsome boy, Ghost will need an adopter who will continue working with him on basic manners, such as jumping up when he is excited. Ghost has so much pawtential, the only thing he needs is for you to take him home!

Ghost is a big fella and weighs about 85 lbs; he could still use a few more groceries in his belly. He has a beautiful patchwork style coat of cream and rust - truly a looker if we ever saw one! One thing we recently learned about Ghost is that someone shot him!! He was picked up as a stray in a rural area, so he could have been eyeing someone's chickens. Lisa, our lead volunteer in AL noticed that Ghost did not fully sit down on his left buttock. Upon being x-rayed, it was determined that Ghost has a bullet lodged in the muscle of that buttock. No surgery is recommended as the surgery itself could do more harm than leaving the bullet in. Ghost is not impaired in any way - he is an active, healthy boy!

Ghost is up-to-date on vaccinations, neutered, microchipped and heartworm negative. He keeps his kennel clean which is a good sign that he is house-broken. He will be ready to come north in January, just in time for the snow!! Please contact Cheryl (text/call 850-529-3182) if you are already approved to adopt through SGRR and would like to give this precious fellow his forever home. If not yet approved, please fill out an application to be considered.

Rescued dogs come with a range of needs - from behavioral to emotional to medical. When approved applicants adopt such dogs, they agree to take on whatever comes with the dog. It is up to YOU to continue the rehabilitation we have begun. This is what it means to rescue.
