Gene's Story

We found him wandering the streets of phoenix, lost and heat exhausted. Once we caught him, we realized he was in a lot of danger. He had a VERY large Perianal Hernia.

Once we got him the lifesaving surgery he needed, he went from lethargic and slow, to a quick and HUNGRY senior raccoon! This kid would eat a 20lb bag of food if you let him!

Gene is the most cuddly dog in the rescue. He sleeps in his fosters arms every night!

He does great with other dogs that are respectful of him. For a senior, he can still catch some speed and trot around the house, it's the most darling sight. When he's inside, he wears belly bands to prevent marking. Gene is the leader of our Diaper Gang!

Gene is now healthy and ready for adoption! Interested? All prospective adopters are required to complete an adoption application or share some details about themselves. Following this, we will arrange a meet & greet between the family and the pet. A mandatory home check will then be conducted. Once the home check is complete, an adoption agreement must be signed. Adoption fees range from $50 to $400 and must be paid when the adoption is finalized. Each adoption includes a 2-week trial period. If things don’t work out, the adoption fee is fully refundable. After the 2-week trial, while we are always happy to take back any of our dogs, the adoption fee will have already been invested in the care of other animals.
