Gemini's Story

COURTESY LIST ---This is Gemini (Gemi). She had just had puppies and was very fat when she was rescued by a vet from a kill shelter. She’s was spayed & successfully treated for heart worms when rescued from a kill shelter by a vet in Nov. or Dec. of 2008 and was cleared of them. Her age is probably anywhere from 7-10 although she is still quite an athlete and very fit so probably on the younger end. She lost weight while running loose inside the animal clinic and the vet said it was important to keep it at a healthy range. Although she shared the vet’s attention with other animals she and the vet’s other heeler couldn’t decide who was top dog. She has been on monthly heart worm prevention since her treatment. Her last yearly rabies and other shots were on Mar. 24th, 2014 and eats dry Science Diet for the most part. She is chipped.

She is very calm, affectionate, and laid back except when she sees a Frisbee or tennis ball which she loves to retrieve then she is ready to play. If the ball or Frisbee rolls away from you when she brings it back if you tell her “to me” she’ll get it closer to you. She also will play a word game with you before she eats. She is protective of the inside of whatever car she is riding in and she loves to go for a drive. She doesn’t chew on things, is housebroken, doesn’t mind a bath; and is okay with cats and doesn’t chase them as long as she has had a chance to work out (retrieve) that day; and depending on how alpha they are she’s ok with some other dogs. She does bark when strangers are right outside of the house and when there’s a knock on the door or the doorbell rings. Her fur is thick and very soft and not wiry.

This girl is smart, if you are able to give her a home, please call us at Red Barn Animal Hospital 256 325-9900
