Gavin's Story
Meet Gavin!

1.5 years old
48 lbs
Neutered male

After a few weeks in his foster home, Gavin is really starting to come out of his shell—and watching his confidence grow has been incredible. This goofy, sweet, toy-obsessed young dog is still learning that the world isn’t so scary, and every day he proves just how much potential he has.

Gavin recently went on his very first walk and did amazingly. He’s also now going outside on his own to potty, sometimes even without the support of his resident dog—huge progress for a boy who once found the outdoors overwhelming. And in an exciting milestone, Gavin has officially conquered the basement… and found his voice! He’s discovered barking and isn’t afraid to use it, especially when he’s feeling bold or alerting you to something new.

House training continues to improve. He’s had a few accidents that seem stress-related, but as his confidence builds, those are becoming less frequent. He’s learning that outside is safe and that good things happen when he’s brave.

Crate training is mostly there. Gavin may cry a bit at night as he continues adjusting to routine changes, but he’s settling more and more as time goes on. While he’s not a big barker overall, he will whine softly when he’s unsure or looking for reassurance—and now occasionally barks now that he’s feeling braver.

His energy level is emerging as medium to medium-high, especially when toys are involved. And wow—does Gavin love toys. Stuffed toys last about five minutes before total destruction, and he lives for chasing balls or a Chuck It stick. Toys aren’t just fun for him—they’re a confidence booster and a source of pure joy.

Gavin is wonderful with people and absolutely adores other dogs, often drawing confidence from his canine friends. He hasn’t been tested with cats yet. Once he trusts you, he is incredibly affectionate, clingy, and snuggly—he wants to be close and soak up all the love. He also has an impressive sniffer and a curious nose that’s always working.

Food-wise, Gavin is… selective. Fruits like bananas and blueberries? Hard no. Peanut butter in a Kong? Yes. Pork rinds? The ultimate prize.

Known affectionately as Gav, Gavie, Geevees, or Gavin, this sweet, anxious, playful boy is still focusing on settling in before tackling formal training—but he’s smart, eager, and ready to learn in a forever home that offers patience, structure, and understanding.

If you’re looking for a silly, snuggly, toy-crazy pup who’s finding his courage one brave step at a time, Gavin is ready to keep growing—with you.

Interested in adopting?
