Gavin's Story

Gavin is a 3.5-year-old pit mix with a big heart and an even bigger need for space to run. This gentle giant grew up in a home with two dog siblings, enjoying the freedom of multiple yards and the comfort of routine. Sadly, life took an unexpected turn, and Gavin now finds himself living in a 30-foot trailer - not nearly enough room for a pup of his energy and size.

At 90 pounds, Gavin is a loyal, loving companion who bonds deeply with his people and is eager to please you. He knows basic commands like sit, shake, and lay down, and he's muzzle trained for safety during walks or introductions. While he has lived peacefully with other dogs, he can be reactive toward unfamiliar dogs, especially if they aren't part of his "pack" or aren't running and playing alongside him in a yard. He'll need a committed adopter willing to continue training and help him feel secure again.

Gavin had a brief foster placement, but due to upcoming college plans and household changes, he had to return. This sweet boy deserves stability, space, and someone who understands that big dogs with big hearts sometimes need a little extra support.

Ideal Home: A fenced yard, no other pets (or slow introductions if experienced), and someone with patience and love to give. Gavin is ready to be your best friend-he just needs the chance.

Gavin is participating in The Love Pit's iRehome program, so ongoing care and custody are provided by their foster. All behavior and medical information is provided by their caretaker, and TLP encourages all adopters to verify the information with their caretaker prior to adoption.
