Gaucho's Story

Gaucho has found his own home on a 68 acre farm in Bernville, Pa where he will have 25 horses to play with. We couldn't have asked for a better place for him and the family who adopted him are already in love with this high energy boy. We are sure he won't miss the miniscule yards he had to play in during his stay with us. He now has a beautiful pond to run around and plenty of new sights and smells to keep him busy for quite some time.
Gaucho is a purebred Aussie Cattle Dog who was given up by his previous guardians because he was too energetic. If they did their homework, they would know that this is a working dog, bred to herd livestock and needing to be kept busy. This guy is a wonderful find; he is extremely friendly, affectionate, funny and loves other dogs. (He’s WAY TOO INTERESTED in cats, however – so a feline free home is probably best for any potential kitties out there!)

He is 19 months old (born Oct '04) and weighs 42 pounds. He is absolutely gorgeous and has a beautiful rust and cream dappled coat. Even the Vet was quite impressed with how handsome this guy was and commented how some family is going to be very lucky to get him. While he does like to run, he also enjoys sitting at your feet for some pets and belly rubs. In fact, during those rare moments when he is NOT active, he will position himself next to his humans, just touching them so they know he’s there. He is really a sweet dog and will be an excellent pet (just look at his soft eyes in his pictures). He likes kids and gave them all kisses during his inaugural adoption event. He does have a tendency to jump, so no small children, please. We are working on the jumping habit, and he is a very fast learner (Smart, smart boy!) but he is a bit stubborn at times. (Foster mom loves him, anyway!)

Gaucho is neutered and up to date on all shots. He is very clean and housebroken. He is a very active dog, so we will only consider a home with room to run or a very active family that would enjoy taking Gaucho hiking or other such activities -- or who would like a GREAT agility dog to train. Gaucho loves to play fetch and will run after a ball for hours. He knows “sit”, “give paw” “off” and “down” – a good start! – but, we still recommend an obedience class to help strengthen the bond between Gaucho and his new handler. This is a fantastic dog so if you have a nice big piece of property or need some cattle rounded up - he is the pup for you.

Our Mission
All Star Pet Rescue is an all volunteer organization formed in April, 2006. While we started solely as an adoption agency, we now take in mainly seniors and hospice cases who just need a place to lay their heads in the twilight of their lives. We still do occasional adoptions but we really try to help the older dogs who a...
