Garnet's Story
Is that a miniature fox? A red ball of fluff? No, it’s just me, Garnet! I’m a four-pound, thirteen-year-old male chihuahua, fully vetted and vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, and up-to-date on my heartworm medication. I’ve had a lonely life, and now I’m looking for a forever family to give me the love and affection I’ve missed out on all these years!

Before coming to the rescue, I was owned by a backyard breeder who didn’t give me much attention or social time. Because of that, I can be a bit gruff when meeting new people, but I so badly want to be loved. I give a fearful growl when people try to pet me or pick me up, but once I’m comfortable, I will settle down into their arms and even take a cozy nap! My previous owner also didn’t teach me potty training, so I sometimes mark in the house, but I’m content to wear a belly band and am quickly learning that I should do my business outdoors. Who said you can’t teach an old dog new tricks?!

Another new trick I’m learning is walking across a hard-surfaced floor. I do an adorable shuffle that is guaranteed to make you smile! Because I have so much to learn about being part of a family, I’ll need an experienced chihuahua owner with no children. Dog siblings would be fine, or I’d be content as an only dog so I can have all the attention! I’ll also need soft food since I’m missing most of my teeth. I’ve kept all my beautiful long hair though! It’s fairly easy to take care of, but an occasional trip to the groomer would keep me looking my finest.

I’m so glad I finally have the chance to spend my golden years with humans who care about me! Now I’m hopeful that my forever family will come along soon and make me the cherished, pampered boy I deserve to be!

Garnet’s adoption fee is $250.
