Fred's Story

Fred is a 64 pound, lovable Lab mix with a big heart and an even bigger smile! He came to the shelter because he was a little too much dog for a family with small children — he’s full of enthusiasm and tail wags (literally so happy he once had “happy tail” that required a little tail trim!).

Fred would do best in a home with older kids who won’t get knocked over by his excitement. He’s a happy, social guy who loves to play, explore, and spend time with his people. Fred is crate trained, housebroken, and already knows how to sit. He’s also very treat motivated, which makes him a quick learner and a great candidate for more training!

When it comes to other animals, Fred’s energy can be a lot for some dogs, but he means well — he just loves to say hello quickly! He followed our shelter cat for a minute, then quickly lost interest and walked away, so a home with a confident cat could work.

Fred is neutered, current on vaccines, and ready for an active family who will give him the exercise, structure, and love he needs. If you’re looking for a fun, loyal companion with a heart of gold, Fred might just be your guy!
