While he’d enjoy a yard, it’s not required. Fred has a strong prey drive—he’s reportedly caught a rabbit and will chase neighborhood cats and dig for moles—so if he has a yard it will need to be fenced, and he should be walked securely.

He’s happy to go in his crate when asked but would love nothing more than to sleep on the bed with his person. Fred can be chatty when he hears noises or other dogs are barking, overall he is generally pretty chill but shared walls would not be ideal. He loves dogs and would do best with a companion to play with.

Pets & People

Fred has loved everyone he’s met and immediately greets adults with affection. He is also good with children. He absolutely loves all dogs—he gets along with both his foster family’s 60-pound Weimaraner and 8-pound dachshund/pin mix. On walks, he barks at other dogs, but it’s a friendly, excited bark. Fred is gentle around food and likes to take breaks during meals to explore before returning to finish eating. He does like to sample other dogs’ food bowls, so he should be supervised during mealtimes in multi-dog homes.

Location

Fred is available for adoption from Bluffton, SC and is great in the car for travel. Please email jexley726@gmail.com with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee for Fred is $375.00.
