Freckles's Story
A060201 Freckles; intact Australian Cattle Dog mix; est. 1 year, 6 months; 33.8 lbs
Contact: Calaveras County Animal Services
(209)754-6509
Website: https://animal.calaverasgov.us/
Email: animal@calaverascounty.gov

Meet Freckles!

Freckles is part of a clan of dogs that all came from one place where they did not receive adequate care, socialization, or hygiene. While in our care, she and her siblings have blossomed into sweet, gentle souls.

Freckles seems to have the tenderest, somewhat timid heart. Her soft eyes express what we'd interpret as lingering worry but also increasing hope for safety and love. She's still quite anxious but is allowing us to connect with her. She loves to get out into the fresh green grass and sniff about. Her bravery in approaching us for treats and friendship is increasing rapidly. She'll do best in a home in which she is given time and space to adapt to new people, routines, and the environment.

She is very friendly with all other dogs, which is a real plus. Freckles happily greets other dogs, both those in her clan and new doggo friends. She would probably do well with a dog companion in her new home.

Freckles had zero leash experience when she arrived but is making progress. She will need continued encouragement to feel at ease walking on leash. Freckles does best with a harness rather than a collar.

Freckles is a sweetly gentle girl and will accept touch when approached with sensitivity to her needs. With the progress that she has made thus far, we have high hopes that her trust and her personality will continue to blossom once she settles into a calm, loving environment.

Freckles will need to be spayed before she can go home with you.

None of the sisters have had potty training, but they do keep their inner kennel clean. Though we can't make guarantees, that's a good sign.

We do not have info on her attitude toward cats at this time.

As always, a meet-and-greet is required if you have other dogs at home.
