Franklin's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Forever Home Wanted: Meet Franklin – A Gentle Senior Labrador!

Franklin is an eight-year-old, 82-pound Champagne English Lab who spent his life shut away in a shed before being rescued. Despite that heartbreaking start, he is one of the sweetest, most loyal companions you could ever meet.

Franklin is fully potty trained, never destructive, and has excellent leash manners. He loves his daily walks around the neighborhood and golf course, carried along by his special harness when his back legs need a little support. Franklin has arthritis in his hips and back, so he’ll do best in a single-story home, ideally with carpet, and with someone strong enough to help him up when needed.

This mellow boy has low-to-moderate energy—he adores short strolls and squeaky plush toys but spends much of his day napping happily at his foster’s side. He is the ultimate Velcro dog, always following his person from room to room. Franklin sleeps peacefully through the night (even in your bed if you allow it) and has perfect house manners. He’s also a gentleman with grooming: nail trims, baths, brushing, even ear and teeth cleaning are a breeze. In fact, he loves baths so much he once fell asleep during one!

Franklin is great with children, curious but calm around parrots, and would likely do best with a submissive dog if he shares his home. He is food-motivated, takes treats gently, and is already learning new commands like “Come” and “Stay.”

Franklin is looking for a family who will treasure him in his golden years—someone retired or working from home who wants a loyal shadow by their side. After everything he’s been through, he deserves a home full of love, comfort, and companionship.

If you think Franklin might be the one for you, please fill out an adoption application at www.labradorsandfriends.org.
