Frank's Story

Dog Name: Frank (Franklin or Frankie)
Age: 1 year
Gender: Male
Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier
Weight: 50 lbs
Crate trained: Yes
Potty trained: Yes
Dog friendly: Yes
Cat friendly: Unknown
Kid friendly: Yes
Vaccinated: Yes
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Heartworm: Negative
Microchipped: Yes
Energy level: Medium

Frank is adorably awkward! He has the cutest teddy bear face but the longest body and legs. He would rather get wet sneaking into the shower with you than be without his human (I can personally vouch for this!). He wants to sleep inside your shirt, because, well, who wouldn’t? Just like a typical guy, he just loves to be fed, loved on, given kisses and told how handsome he is.

Frank was rescued from the euthanasia list November 24th with about an hour to spare. He was so sick and frail, his skin was a mess, ribs showing and everything scared him. He just wanted to curl into the smallest ball on your lap and hide. In 2 months he has put on some serious weight, been neutered, learned his name, almost has stay, come and no down perfectly, accident free for about a month (knock on wood), able to be left out of his kennel for extended periods of time, learned how to use the doggie door, takes treats so gently, walks decently on a leash (I would say a 7/10) and so much more!

We are still working on our listening skills and personal boundaries though because he has puppy brain and selective hearing- except when it comes to hearing your keys or his cookie jar open, he hears that loud and clear!

Even though he still has some growing to do and he’s extremely gentle, he can get easily excited when playing and tends to get mouthy. Something we have been diligently working on but again, he’s just a baby (He could be 16 years old and I would say he’s just a baby but for real, he’s just a baby) so I would say he would be ideal for kids 12 & older. He would thrive in a house full of teenagers!! He has no preference over people, loves everyone he meets.

A yard is definitely a must for Frank. He loves to play fetch and get his zoomies out!!
Bonus points if you’re active outside! He loves to hike, makes an awesome running partner and loves water!

If you're interested in meeting Frankie, please fill out an application at the link below.

https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DHDN/Dog
