His suffering was so significant that Animal Control had to step in and confiscate him. For years, Francis was denied the most basic things—comfort, consistency, and love. Yet somehow, heartbreakingly, he never lost his gentle soul.<br/><br/>Despite everything he has been through, Francis greets the world with quiet sweetness. He is friendly with everyone he meets and seeks affection without fear. In neutral settings such as vet offices and pet stores, he has remained calm and non-reactive around other dogs. Even when surrounded by unfamiliar sights and sounds, Francis chooses trust.<br/><br/>He tolerated his bath with grace, rode well in the car when safely tethered, and showed polite behavior in public spaces. In his foster environment, he keeps his sleeping area clean, instinctively separating where he rests from where he relieves himself—small signs of dignity from a dog who was once denied it.<br/><br/>Francis is intelligent and eager to please. He walks fairly well on leash, comes when called, and is highly food motivated. While he will need basic obedience training and house training once in a home, his willingness to learn makes it clear he wants to do right—he just needs someone willing to teach him gently.<br/><br/>His foster, who has cared for hundreds of dogs, describes Francis as the sweetest dog she has ever fostered.
