Foxy Roxy!'s Story

Really. I could look at that face all day. EARS for miles....!! Roxy came to us from a high-kill shelter in AL. She was the last one to be pulled - we just couldn't let her get left behind! Her foster says she thinks Roxy looks like she was a ballerina in a former life, elegant, graceful and delicate. She looks so so sweet, and she absolutely is! Never met a cat, but will probably get along with them as well. Roxy is as close to the perfect dog as they get - sweet as can be and flexible to any situation - she's a "go with the flow" kind of gal... She's especially attached to the foster's hubby and follows him around the house just in case a spare hug or a pat is available;). She's super affectionate and loves to cuddle and sit on laps. Roxy is a bit timid and is just now finding her confidence back. This is common with shelter dogs who experience so much change, but their resilience is remarkable, and a few weeks of stability, routine and affection is the best cure. When she first arrived, she was sticking close to her foster mom and dad. Now she's had some time and is coming into her own. Initially she wouldn't go out in the (fenced-in) yard if they weren't there, but she's getting much better. When the foster opens door and lets other dogs out, they run, but Roxy will sit and wait until mom gets her coat on. Awww! Roxy's Favorite Things: Roxy likes to chew bones, loves to be curled up by you and watch the goings on in the house and outside. She's starting to play with fosters' other dogs. She plays chase and wrestle but very gently. She barks initially when strangers come - it's kind of a yodel that makes foster laugh. If you come over, she will sniff you and run back to fosters and calm down. She's good with kids that know boundaries, and she can run REALLY fast. Foster says catching her for a bath is a comedy video. She's crate trained and sleeps in crate, and is crated when no one is home. At this time, she doesn't like to be picked up - she prefers to initiate that for now. Roxy is a lover who loves love. She will do well with a family with kids, or an active young couple. Someone who is home a lot while be helpful in her gaining her confidence back. She just wants to be with you no matter where you are or what your doing. To her, a big family = more people to cuddle!
