Fox (Woodland Creatures Litter Mom)'s Story

Meet Fox!

Gender: Female

Current Age: 2

Current Age Range: Adult (1 year or older)

Current Weight: 50 lbs

Expected Adult Size: Large (50-100 lbs)

Breed: Lab/hound Mix

Energy Level: Low-Medium

Dog Friendlly: Yes, and can have other dogs in the home or can be an only dog.

Cat Friendly: Unknown

Kids: Fox has had very gentle, sweet interactions with kids, but she has not lived in a home with kids since she has been with rescue.

Apartment Friendly: No

Fence Requirements: Physical fence required, any height

Crate Trained: Yes

Potty Trained: Yes

Ideal Home / Adopter: After having puppies over the summer of 2026, Fox is ready to live the rest of her life with her favorite things: family, food, fetch, and fun! As far as we can tell, Fox would thrive in any single-family home whether you're a first-time dog owner or an experienced dog parent. Fox is incredibly easy, low-maintenance, and eager to learn and please. She should be easy to train as you integrate her into your life. She can go around 8 hours without needing to go outside, and playing fetch or tug inside or outside is a great way to get out her energy. She'd do better with a fenced yard to get her energy out. At her current foster home she sleeps in a crate and is crated when home alone, but she seems like she could pretty easily learn how to free roam during the day and would probably love sleeping with her people at night.

Likes: Fox loves all kinds of treats and toys. She particularly loves a denim sloth that she carries around the house or uses to play what her fosters call "slothball" (it's just indoor fetch but with the sloth). Outside, she prefers a kong to play fetch with - she likes the extra bounces. She takes treats incredibly gently and finds them consistently motivating for pretty much anything - taking medicine, going in her crate, learning new skills, self-entertainment. Fox has a pretty decent attention span and can spend a good 30+ minutes at a time focused on one bone or pupsicle, which is great when you need to get something done around the house because otherwise she's going to want to be velcro-ed to her people. She loves belly rubs, giving kisses, neck and chin scratches, and really just any attention you can shower on her!

Dislikes: Fox can be a bit fixated on sights and sounds of the outside world, mainly when she's inside. Her bark is powerful and hard to stop, but she can be redirected. Her barking is the main reason we don't think she'd do great in an apartment/multi-family setting. When actually interacting with people face-to-face she's very sweet, but from a distance she likes to bark.

What makes this dog special?: Every day with Fox will make you smile and laugh. She has the sweetest face that will make you want to play a little more fetch or give a few more belly rubs even when you really have to go. Lately, she's been mastering the persuasive art of the single paw strategically placed on her peoples' knees to get just a few seconds more attention. Her ideal way of cuddling is to flop on her back over your whole body with her tummy up, but she also loves resting her head on your feet or legs. She likes to sleep in eyesight of at least one of her people, whether on furniture or the floor.

Fox's love for and trust in the people in her life is incredibly touching, and you'll feel lucky every day to have her in your life.

All fees include spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, deworming, and the dog will be current on flea, tick, and heartworm preventatives. All dogs over 6 months of age have been tested and are heartworm negative.
