Fox's Story
We all know The Fox & The Hound, but have you heard of a Fox named Hound??
Meet Fox – The Velvet-Coated Hound with a Heart Ready to Heal
Fox’s story hasn’t been an easy one. Once lost, rejected, and overlooked, this beautiful hound has faced more than his fair share of heartbreak. When he was finally found, scared and shut down, he had to be safely trapped—because for Fox, trust in humans was something long lost. But beneath that cautious spirit beats the heart of a survivor who’s quietly learning to believe in love again.
Leashes and loud voices are still foreign to him, but offer him a quiet space, a kind hand, and maybe a few tasty treats, and you’ll start to see Fox’s true self peek through. He’s very food motivated (a great way to win his heart!) and has discovered that ear scratches are actually one of life’s greatest joys once he feels safe.
Fox is an independent soul who finds peace in the outdoors. A home with plenty of land to roam or a large, secure yard to lounge in would make him happiest. He’s already shown how loyal he can be—once he knows where he belongs, he sticks around. But if startled or frightened in a new place, he may bolt, so his forever family will need patience, commitment, and secure fencing while he adjusts.
In his kennel, Fox has found comfort beside his best friend, Mary Puppins, a spirited deaf dog who seems to balance his quiet nature with her joyful energy. He thrives around other confident but gentle dogs, and their companionship brings out his bravery. He hasn’t been around cats much, but I think he would want to chase them, so probably no smaller animals.
Fox has never shown aggression—only fear—and despite everything, his sweetness still shines through. He’s kept his kennel clean, prefers calm over chaos, and just needs someone willing to meet him where he is. Car rides aren’t his favorite, and hunting isn’t in his future, but a loyal, loving companion? That’s who Fox is meant to be.
Neutered, vaccinated, and up to date on prevention, Fox is ready for the next chapter of his story—a chapter where he’s finally safe, loved, and home. He is young adult, estimated around 3 years old.
He’s come too far to be let down by humans again. Could you be the one to show him that forever really does exist?

Edit to add: it has been several weeks since Fox has been trapped and at the rescue and he is playing with toys (as seen in the video) and freely coming up to people begging for attention and pets. He loves to play with the other dogs and be with someone whenever possible. He has the lovely howl and bay of a hound dog and he will voice his concerns when he feels a certain way.
He is such a good boy who desperately wants his own family.

If interested his adoption is free, but a meet and greet is required at your home.
