Foster Odin's Story

Meet Odin!

Breed: Coonhound/Lab Mix
Age: 4 years old (turns 5 on October 21)
Weight: 65 lbs
Neutered Up to Date on Vaccines

Odin is looking for a foster or foster to adopt home. The rescue will provide all things needed to successfully care for a dog. Foster families get first choice to adopt a dog before being placed for adoption.

Odin is a handsome, intelligent boy looking for a very special home with experienced, patient adopters who understand that some dogs simply need a little extra support to thrive.

Odin is incredibly loyal to the people he trusts and forms deep bonds with his family. He loves spending time outside, whether hes soaking up the sunshine, rolling around in the grass, or enjoying one of his favorite nighttime walks when the neighborhood is nice and quiet. He is also wonderfully house trained and leash trained. He has excellent manners in the home, can be left alone for several hours without accidents, and politely lets you know he needs to go outside with a quick two-bark reminder.

Odin has completed professional obedience training and knows commands such as sit, down, place, and come. Hes a smart dog who enjoys structure and does best when expectations are clear and consistent.

Like many dogs, Odin also has challenges. He experiences anxiety and takes daily medication to help him feel more comfortable. Because of his anxiety, he can become reactive in certain situations and has a history of resource guarding and guarding confined spaces. For this reason, he is looking for an adult-only home with adopters committed to continuing positive training and management. Odin is muzzle trained and wears one in situations where it helps keep everyone safe.

Odin currently lives peacefully with a smaller senior dog and has done well with certain canine companions, so a dog sibling may be possible with careful introductions. A fenced yard is important for him, as he enjoys having a safe space to exercise and relax. Cats are unknown.

Odin isnt looking for a perfect family—just the right one. He needs experienced owners who will provide patience, routine, clear boundaries, and lots of love. In return, youll gain a devoted companion who will be fiercely loyal and happiest by your side.

If you think you can offer Odin the understanding and stable home he deserves, wed love to tell you more about this special boy.

Please apply to foster at rescuedrascalsil.org.
