Fortune's Story
Somebody really should have assigned me a full-time emotional support committee by now, because I am a lot of dog and a lot of feelings in one extremely huggable package. I'm Fortune, and I may be big and strong on paper, but in practice I am more of a tenderhearted oaf who likes a little reassurance before charging boldly into life. New things can make me hesitate. I look around. I think about it. I consider whether anyone else would like to go first. Underneath all that careful processing, though, I am all softness. I'm sweet, affectionate, and very much the kind of special boy who makes people fall in love once they actually take the time to know me.

One of my favorite life hacks is borrowing confidence from other dogs, because when I see a calm friend acting like everything is fine, I start to believe it too. Although I love my canine companions, I still need to be given adequate time to adjust to a new sibling in a home setting. I need patience, structure, and somebody who understands that training is part of loving me well. I need an Indestructible crate while I'm unattended, and while I'm still working on my manners (I have it in me, I swear!) That is not a tragedy. That is a plan. I do not need to be bounced around by people who mistake size for instant confidence or sweetness for self-sufficiency. I need the kind of home that sees a big ole baby worth teaching, protecting, and cheering for while I figure it out.
