Forrest's Story

Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Forrest. He is a 7 year old healthy Vizla mix. He was adopted out 6 years ago from our Rescue and recently returned due to playing too rough with the other large resident dog resulting in that dog falling off the deck and breaking his hip. His family believed that they wouldn't be able to ensure he doesn't get hurt again and would have a hard time keeping them seperated.

Forrest is a good boy. He isn't the best with dogs his size but loves small dogs, both males and females. He sleeps on the chairs and couches with them and likes to play and he plays very nicely with them. Forrest listens very well. He is a real loving boy and loves to be with his foster family. He was overweight when he arrived and now is slim and trim. He has hound in him so we assume he has a prey drive for cats. Forrest has a lovely medium length coat that is very soft. His eyes melt your soul when he looks at you. He rides well in the vehicle. He pulls on a lead so we do not think he was walked that often in his previous home.

Typical of his breed mix, he has a big appetite. He is fed twice daily and his food is measured out to ensure he remains at the optimum condition. He is a very easy going foster and fully housebroken. He does not need a crate as he is not destructive in the home. The ideal home for him would be one with another small resident dog to keep him company. He should have a family that walks him daily and has a nice yard for him to relax in when the family is outdoors with him. He will be a wonderful pet for a family and will love to go for car rides with his Dad. A cat free home is mandatory.

Forrest is neutered, up to date with vaccines and was diagnosed with Ehrlichiliosis 6 years ago. He was treated with Doxycycline for 30 days which is the routine treatment. It is caused by a tick bite and causes a bacterial infection.

Visit barksandmeows.ca for an online application. Available to Ontario Residents only!!!
