Patience will be needed. This lightly built boy will need an active life to keep him out of trouble. Sports (agility, nosework, etc.) or hiking/running will be important for his (and your) future well-being. He is a blank slate for training. He loves petting and attention, but isn't a major cuddler yet. He is just too busy!

Family companions: he has blended well with the foster siblings, but he is a pest and spends a lot of time bugging them to wrestle or attaching hinself to their ears, legs, etc. He would enjoy a playful canine companion that is very tolerant and matches his energy. He is fine with cats, but again, wants to be too playful at times which is not appreciated by the felines. He can also ignore them once he calms down. Due to his energy and possibility for reactivity, he will not be placed in a situation with children under 10 years old.

Fly is house-trained (if he isn't too busy outside and forgets to do his business) and crate trained, but does prefer to stay close to his humans or else may express his displeasure with some barking. His recall is a work in progress. He responds well with treats in a non-distracting environment. A long line or a fenced area will be a condition of placement.

If you think you are the perfect home for Fly, please speak up. He is working hard to be a foster fail.

If you are the perfect forever home for Fly, please fill out an application and contact his foster parents at jklrsn@gmail.com. BRBCR's approval process includes phone interviews, reference checks, and a home visit prior to meeting a foster dog. Approved applicants must meet at the foster dog’s location. Every adoption begins with a 2-week trial period.

Fly's adoption fee is $350.

Thank you for considering a rescue dog!

Blue Ridge Border Collie Rescue's Adoption Policy
BRBCR's adoption process requires that each of the following steps are successfully completed before meeting one of our foster dogs. The approval process typically takes 1 - 2 weeks. 1. Contact the foster parent of the dog that you are interested in to request an adoption application. 2. Fill out an adoption application on our website OR email a completed adoption application to brbcrdogs@gmail.com. 3. A BRBCR volunteer will conduct a phone interview with the applicant and the applicant's veterinarian and personal references. 4. A BRBCR volunteer will conduct a home visit with the applicant. Upon approval, the foster parent will set up a Meet and Greet for the applicant. If the Meet and Greet is successful, then the applicant will be able to take the BRBCR dog home for a 2-week trial period. If the trial period is successful, the adoption becomes official.
