Flo's Story
Meet the middle child Flo. She is sweet, bright eyed and resilient, but she is not the alpha like her sister Ellie Mae. Flo is approximately 18 pounds, five months old and healthy. She has recovered beautifully from the scare when the gunshot was shot at her litter hurting her brother Bubba.

She was very submissive and gentle with her Kentucky foster mom. She loves people and other dogs. She is in great shape and ready to love. She gets along very well with her seven litter mates. She gets along with all the other puppies and doesn’t boss around or give direction. She loves playing with toys and tumbling around in her foster pen. Once she is in foster with us here up North, we will have even more info on her, unless of course she goes directly to her adopter, which is what we are hoping. She will arrive Sunday, July 14th in Sparta, NJ.

Here is her backstory: apparently the husband had an unfixed female beagle/mix who gave birth to seven beautiful pups. The wife wanted the pups out, but he kept them. She threatened that if they got into the (unsecured) garbage again she would shoot them. They were not responsible dog owners and did not feed them much, and their garbage was accessible. Flo and her siblings were hungry and of course went to the unsecured, accessible garbage, and she fired her gun scaring all the puppies and injuring Bubba. So, the scared husband got them all in the pickup truck and left her at the kill shelter with her siblings. Bubba had a swollen face that the previous owner did not address.

The story gets worse before it gets better. When they got to the kill shelter, the shelter was full. The manager there said that they would have to euthanize all the puppies if she took them in. They called a Kentucky rescue to help, that rescue called us and collectively we saved them. They went to a foster in KY who only had a large pen for them, but it was better than the alternative. They all play and eat in there together, except for poor Bubba who had already been vetted and had to stay in his crate separately. The puppies have been dewormed once at the time of this posting. Our typical extensive vetting which includes spay and neuter will be done on the 9th of July for six puppies and the 10th for the remaining two puppies. They all will get weighed again at the vet. They will receive the Home Again microchip, which is one of the best services. They will be registered at that time to the rescue, so they will need to be registered to the owner upon adoption. And as you well know she hasn’t been given much from her previous owners, but she will be very eager to learn to be housebroken and leash trained. Flo just wants to please her humans! To adopt Flo or one of the other available puppies in her litter please visit www.peace4paws.org and fill out an adoption application. Thank you so much!!
