FLAVIAN the faithful shih tzu Shih Tzu Bronxville, NY

Say hello to Flavian, a 5 year old Shih Tzu mix who is ready for his forever home. Flavian loves to snuggle and sleep right next to you—or even on top of you. He also loves to zoom around in a yard with some doggie friends. He enjoys long walks, and will happily go on long, meandering strolls with you—so if you are looking for a low-key silly buddy to get you out and walking more, Flavian is your guy. As such, he would make a great companion for a small dog savvy older or retired person.

Flavian would do best in an adult-only home who will respect his boundaries when it comes to body handling. It takes him a bit of time to trust, but once he knows who has his back he is solid.

Flavian was found as a stray with cherry eyes and intestinal issues at the beginning of the Covid quarantine, and his rescue beginnings were traumatic: he went through several invasive vet visits and at least three surgeries. A lot of stress for a little guy!

He did lash out a few times, but since then Flavian has been working with a trainer and he has overcome so much! He is very bright, and comes with a pocketful of tricks. He is charming and very enthusiastic. He also loves being groomed and has several looks!

Flavian will do best with someone who will love him for who he is now, a person who has had quirky small dogs before and who is willing to continue his journey with him at his pace As his trust grows, there will be rewards for sure.

He can go in a home with other dogs of any size, as long as they are low to medium energy. His ideal home is in a suburban area or a beach town. He is fully crate trained and housebroken, and deserves to have the third time be the charm. Please consider adopting Flavian today!
