Fiona *In Foster Home*'s Story
Hi, my name is Fiona! I'm a RED pawprint, which means I will fit well into a home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:
-Personality: Energetic, quirky, silly
-Can Live with Kids: Recommending 16+ at this time. Fiona can get easily overstimulated and would do best with older, dog savvy kids. Up to counselor's discretion.
-Can Live with Cats: Unknown history - slow and supervised introductions always recommended.
-Can Live with Dogs: Yes, Fiona would likely benefit from having a playmate that matches her energy levels! Introductions would be scheduled to ensure everyone gets along. Likely wouldn't be a good fit for small or shy dogs.
-Can do Apartment Living: No thanks! Fiona is high energy and would do best in a house - preferably one with a fenced in backyard!
-Potty Trained: Appears to be
-Bite History: No
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Not required, but highly encouraged!
-Energy Level: High!
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Yes, spay/MC.
Meet Fiona - a young dog filled with all the spunk and sweetness. She’s your classic untrained puppy - full of energy, eager to explore, and still learning the ropes of being a well-mannered dog. Fiona didn’t receive much training in her previous home, so she’ll need a patient, dog-savvy adopter who’s ready to commit to positive reinforcement training and help her grow into the amazing companion we know she can be. Fiona is still figuring things out, and she can be a bit timid in new situations or environments. A calm, encouraging home will help her build confidence at her own pace. Once she’s comfortable, her playful and affectionate nature starts to shine! She previously lived with one of her littermates, and while they got along most of the time, there were occasional scuffles over food and toys. Because of this, we recommend feeding Fiona separately from other pets and supervising playtime involving toys or high-value treats. She may do well with another respectful, well-matched dog, but introductions should be slow and supervised. With time, love, and consistency, Fiona is sure to thrive and become a loyal, loving companion. If you're ready to invest in a smart, sensitive pup who just needs a little guidance Fiona might be your girl!

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
