Fiona's Story
TO MEET FIONA:
Please fill out an application here:
https://www.rescued-treasures.com/dog-application/

This dog is being fostered in Rochester, NY, by Rescued Treasures Pet Adoptions. We are not a shelter, but a foster home-based rescue, and these animals are all housed individually with foster families.

Please review our application carefully and ensure everyone in the family is ready for the lifelong responsibility and commitment of a canine companion.

Although we don’t know her exact birthday, our veterinarian estimates that Fiona is a 1-year-old terrier, possibly a Doodle mix. Beginning in the summer of 2025, she spent months wandering the City of Rochester before being safely trapped by Rescued Treasures on November 14. Since then, she’s been learning how to be a dog again—and she’s doing great. While we know nothing about her past, where she came from, how she was treated, or whether she lived with other animals or children—what we do know is who Fiona is today. Fiona is a very lovable girl who enjoys attention once she feels safe. She does well with cats and gets along nicely with my other dog. She would be perfectly happy as the only dog in the home, soaking up all the love, but with proper introductions she could also do well with another dog around her size. She is both potty trained and crate trained. We have not yet gone on walks, so her leash skills are still unknown. Fiona is sensitive to loud noises, so for her safety she should wear a martingale collar. We also recommend that she be walked using a double-leash setup, with one leash being a slip lead, to ensure she remains secure at all times. To further support her safety and well-being, her forever home must have a fully fenced backyard. Fiona is timid and cautious around new people, and it will take time for her to open up in a new home. With patience, consistency, and kindness, she will continue to build confidence and form strong bonds with her people. Medically, Fiona has tested positive for Lyme disease and is currently on medication. She will need to be retested in six months. Fiona is a gentle soul who has survived a lot on her own. She is now ready for a calm, loving home willing to give her the time and understanding she needs to fully blossom.

PLEASE NOTE: Fiona will only be adopted to a home within 20 miles of the Rochester, NY area and must have a fully fenced backyard.
