Fiona's Story

Who is the cutest little princess? Fiona!

Fiona is estimated to be around 4 months old and is a sweet and spirited girl. She is a gentle soul who loves attention and making new friends. She has all the qualities to make her a wonderful companion for someone looking for a moderate-energy and loyal buddy. Fiona is a petite girl and weighs about 20lbs. We think that she will be around 40lbs when fully grown.

Fiona was found as a stray in rural Modesto and brought to the local shelter. She came in with her 3 siblings - Ireland, Patrick, and another brother who was adopted from the shelter. Due to overcrowding at the shelter, the puppies found themselves on the euthanasia list. We are so happy to be able to save their lives, and they have been adjusting well to life in foster care. They are looking for individual homes so that they can get the one-on-one training and socialization that they need.

Fiona is energetic, affectionate, and still surprisingly easygoing for a puppy her age. She loves to run around the backyard and play with toys, and is learning how to play fetch. She is a smart girl who already knows “sit," although she’s still working on “down.” Fiona needs a family committed to continuing her basic manners training.

Fiona has done well living with a small dog, and she seems like she would enjoy having a dog her size to play with in her new home. We haven't seen her around cats, but she may do well living with dog-savvy cats after a slow introduction. Fiona could be a wonderful addition to a family with kids 10 years and older.

Fiona hasn’t had any accidents in the house, but she may have some accidents while adjusting to a new home. She settles down and sleeps quietly in her crate all night, and if she’s in her crate during the day, she’ll whine and give a little bark when she wants to go outside. Fiona is used to having her foster mom home during the day, so she would do best with a family who can slowly acclimate her to being home alone.

Does Fiona sound like a good match for your family? All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes.

Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption.

For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org.

For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org.
