Finnie's Story
When an owner goes to jail, their dog often ends up in local animal shelters, facing potential euthanasia if no one claims them within a set time-frame (often around 14 days). Fortunately for Finnie, our rescue was contacted and now it’s time for Finnie to find his forever home.

This sweet and spirited 1.5 year old pup loves to retrieve (check out his video!) and has a favorite soft toy that he immediately seeks out when he goes outside to the play yard. Heather, our volunteer, told us that Finn retrieved that special toy at least 20 times today when she was at the kennel to play with him. Heather shares, “He’s a little timid initially but is a wiggle-butt and when he gets excited that tail just wags and wags! We are now working on dropping a toy on command so I can throw it again and again! Finnie has a gentle mouth with treats, and since he is underweight at 50 lbs, I especially love giving them to him! And he appreciates them very much!“

Finnie is believed to be a Lab mix and definitely has the retrieving gene in his DNA! He is good with other dogs, and can get a bit excited when meeting a new canine friend. Our volunteers are working with Finn and he is an eager student, especially when rewarded with treats. Finnie loves being petted when he is holding a toy in his mouth and scooches in real close to his human friend. Finn is learning that a leash means fun and walk time. This fella has so much Pawtential and hidden promises. This is a wonderful dog who simply needs someone to take him under their wings and assist him in becoming the delightful companion he was meant to be! In return for a loving home, warm place to lay his head, and toys to fetch, Finnie promises to give his adopter his unconditional love – isn’t that all we could ever ask for?

Finnie is up-to-date on vaccinations, micro-chipped, heartworm negative, and neutered. If you are approved to adopt through J & L, please contact Lisa to be considered for Finnie. When approved applicants adopt such dogs, they agree to take on whatever comes with the dog. It is up to YOU to continue the rehabilitation we have begun. This is what it means to rescue.

If not yet approved, please use this link to submit an online application: http://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/8O06oK9Af8

You can also visit our website to learn more: http://jandlgoldenretrieverrescue.com/index.html

Please direct any questions regarding your application status to Lisa at: lucyphil99@gmail.com

Thank you!

About Our Rescue
Before being approved to adopt, all potential adopters will be required to complete our online application and participate in our pre-adoption review process. The process includes the completion of an online application, a reference from the applicants' vet, a phone interview, and a visit to the applicants' home. The application process helps us determine what type of Golden would be best suited for the applicants' life style. In some cases, the specific dog you are interested in may have found a home before this process is complete or further assessment may indicate that this dog is not the right match for your family. We are frequently getting new Goldens in need of a home, so we encourage you to apply and complete the application process so that when the right dog comes along you will be ready.

Adoption Fees - effective October 1, 2024
$1000 Purebred Puppy up to 12 months
$1450 Purebred Puppy Pair up to 12 months
$450 Dogs under 7 years
$250 Seniors, 7+ years
$650 Pairs

The information provided on each dog is based on the observations of our vets, volunteers, fosters, and when available, trainers. While we do our best to report any and all issues, J & L does not make any guarantees as to the health or temperament of any dog. Dogs evolve differently in different environments and we cannot predict with any certainty how the dog you adopt will behave and adapt in your home.

A contract is signed on the day of adoption. Under the terms of the contract, all adopters are required to bring their dog to a vet within 7 business days. All dogs receive basic veterinary care prior to adoption. However, if an adopter's vet identifies an illness that an adopter is not willing to treat, then the dog may be returned and a full refund would be provided.

Most of our dogs are fostered in private homes. We do not have a facility to visit. We are committed to our dogs before, during, and after adoption! To this end, the rescue retains an interest in each dog and our dogs can never be surrendered, re-homed, or sold. Should an adopter no longer be able to keep their J & L dog, J & L must be notified so that we can take the dog back into rescue and place it into another home. We reserve the right to remove a dog at any time should we find the adopter is no longer providing proper care. Adopters agree to follow up visits as needed.

Please be a ray of light for this J & L dog and make a tax deductible donation toward medical care and other expenses. Every cent of your generosity goes directly toward the care of a J & L dog.

THANK YOU!
