FINA's Story

Fina is a Shepherd Lab mix with a big heart-and she needs a home that understands her.

What Fina excels at:
Out and about, Fina is a pleasure. She has excellent off-leash recall and regularly checks in with her person. She's calm and composed around other dogs, people, bikes, and traffic-she moves through the world with a balanced, steady presence. She especially loves water and will happily seek out swimming or wading opportunities. At home, she has a calm, balanced energy and an excellent off switch. After a hike or outing, she's perfectly content lounging nearby and quietly keeping you company. She's food motivated, house trained, and knows basic cues like "sit" and "down." She has no know separation anxiety and usually just sleeps.

What you should know about Fina:
Fina can be hard to read, and she has distinct preferences about the people she trusts. She may feel anxious or unsure around people who aren't in her established circle, and when stressed or uncomfortable, she can show fear-based behaviors like air snapping to create space. This isn't aggression-it's her way of asking for distance-but it requires an owner who can read her signals and manage her environment accordingly.
She's also significantly unaware of her own strength and size. When she's excited or seeking affection (which she genuinely craves), she leans hard, throws enthusiastic paws, and doesn't register the force behind her movements. This can be risky around smaller people.

Fina's ideal home:
An adult-only household with someone experienced in managing sensitive, strong dogs. She thrives on consistent routines and clear boundaries, and she needs a home without many frequent visitors or new people coming through.
Someone patient who will:
* Work on training with her immediately to establish structure and help her channel her affection appropriately
* Read her subtle stress signals and respect her boundaries
* Give her clear, consistent direction without overwhelming her
* Avoid situations with unfamiliar people or unstable social environments
* Appreciate her genuine loyalty and deeply bonded nature once trust is established
For the right person, Fina is an incredibly devoted companion with a soft heart and playful spirit. She just needs someone who sees her fully-including her challenges-and is ready to meet her there.
