Meet Festus!<br/><br/>Festus is a fun-loving, high-energy little guy with a huge personality and an even bigger heart. He may need a little time to warm up to new people, but once you're in his circle of trust, you'll have a devoted snuggle buddy for life.<br/><br/>- Loves toys and happily entertains himself, but also enjoys a good game of fetch<br/>- Brings toys back and drops them nicely<br/>- Showing good potty manners<br/>Gets along well with most other dogs<br/>- Loves to walk, run, play, and stay active<br/>- High-energy dog who needs daily exercise and enrichment<br/>- Settles down nicely for couch time after his play sessions<br/>- Expert cuddler who loves burrowing under warm blankets<br/>- Strong on leash for his size<br/>- Can be wary of strangers and needs a little time to feel comfortable<br/>- Once he trusts you, he is incredibly affectionate, happy, and snuggly<br/>- Best suited for an adult-only home<br/>- Settles well in a crate but may bark at sudden noises<br/>- Not ideal for apartment living due to his alert barking<br/>- Has some barrier reactivity and may appear more reactive in a kennel environment than he does outside of it<br/>- Doing great with muzzle training and wears his muzzle comfortably when meeting new people<br/>- Can be mildly protective of valued items but trades readily for treats<br/><br/>Festus is a wonderful dog who just needs a patient adopter willing to give him a little time to settle in. As we're 100% volunteer-run, your patience is appreciated!<br/><br/>Requirements And Donations<br/>- Required Adoption Day Items: A martingale collar and a non-retractable leash (available for purchase at ODHS).<br/>- Adoption Donations: Puppies (under 1 year): $375; Adults: $275; Seniors (age-dependent): $175; Select dogs: $500. We accept cash, debit, and credit cards.<br/>- Adoption Radius: Within 350 miles of Fredericksburg, VA.
